whenever i play games like IL-2 Sturmovik and Madden 2002, it often locks up my comp and i'd need to push reset. This happens only when I play games. I didn't overclock my card. What could be wrong? This also happens in Win98SE, so I don't think it's XP incompatibility...so I'm thinking it could be my video card. It's an Inno3D Tornado GeForce MX 200 32MB. :p

[edit] i use 23.11 detonator xp.... but it also happened while I was using 21.83s in Win98SE.

My dear dear darling this is what I have been taking about for the past 2 weeks. I bough Geforce 2 MX 400 and it hangs in all game but I worked on it and sloved the problem.

First change your detonator, use dets 12.91 whql cerfired.

In all games (using D3D Rendering turn off Fog table emulation)

LOL....
no, nvidia is that brand that has problems with older d3d apps and puts FSAA and T&L on mx cards just to show they can do it at 1fps and they have a vsync option which is so bad that you have to turn it off almost always...
but other than that they're ok I guess....

Well even after a lot of fixing, I still face a few problems with Geforce, Like a min ago I was playing alone in the dark, I saved the game, exited to the menu and the game hanged........!.....BULL****!

(Quick note:) Man, have you fallen into the plan, I see? Heh! :D

I have Shiori's problem with my GeForce as well. Better disable fog, then.

I’m just curious, what Direct-X are you using?

I don’t have any problems with any GeForce MX at my disposal!

DX 8 in Win98SE and 8.1 in XP.

Interesting, I really can’t comment has to why you’re experiencing some problems. Has, I said in my previous post, I never had any problems with any geForce MX.

Did ya try installing DX8.1 on Win98se?

How about disabling some programs that are running the background?

Here is a cool program called Enditall2 (http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/download/0/1216/EndItAll2.zip). It will basically terminate any program that you want to disable running in the background of your computer.

Between, I have tested IL-2 Sturmovik. I did all the compatible hardware testing on it. It was a fun game to test

background programs? i've looked into that...no programs running.
Maybe I should return this card....and get a brand new MX to boot!

Well I read the geforce faq and discovered that Asus Geforce and VIA conflict, they recommend to get a geforce of some other brand. Well I also saw some other remedies and they worked. I disabled AGP Texturing in dxdiag and it worked, now games are okay.

I don't see why this must be your video card at all. It's just as likely due to poor memory/motherboard. How agressive are your memory timings? Try setting them all to the conservative defaults first, and see how you get on.

Motherboard: ECS Elitegroup K7S5A, a SiS 730 board.

Memory: Micron PC133 256MB

Timings: set at default (SPD i think)

Duuno if this is the same thing but...

When I used win 2k I had major problems with my MX card which would crash after a while. It appears that there is a bug in the registry if you have an athon that causes certain agp cards to crash if you have an Athlon processor. Might be the same issue I dunno.

One of the biggest solutions for this problem is available in a very high detial in Geforce Faq, I read the whole thing and it gave me a few suggestions which proved to be very helpful.

As far I am concerned I am screwed......the solution for me is to disable AGP Texture Acceleration in Dxdiag, and set the AGP Com Driving to BA,EA or another ending with A.
