What's the best resolution for N64 games?

The readmes always recommend to use 640X480 but they look nasty at that setting. I don't like to use FSAA either because everything gets a fuzzy look. I always use 1078X768 except for PerfectDark(800X600) because of it's high requirements. Any suggestions?

Try 1280x960. It should fit the aspect ratio.

640 X 480 is best for me.(I cant afford higher settings anyway or the fps will take a huge dip).

I concur. If your system can handle it, N64 games look incredible at 1280x960.:)

I use 1024x768 for window mode and 1280x960 for full screen. My system can handle it so it's all cool and the games look pretty damn good actually with 4X FSAA. Of course the N64 plugins don't have much options, not many modes of filtering or anything like that. So some games may look perfect, others may not look that good cause of the filtering mode.

But yeah 1280x960 for full screen seems like a good res to use.

Reading recommendations off the back of your graphics card box is less than helpful/truthful. =P It is more personal preference and desired refresh rate so that your eyes don't get completely tired out so easily.
