yeah, red light for psx. worked ok for me. i didn't install any drivers (well, i tried, but it didn't work). if you're using win 98 or something REALLY old, which i doubt, make sure you got the drivers installed, can find them on lik-sang website.
EDIT: ...god damn, you said you were using xp, well, hope that's useful for other people. anyway, try using it the safe way, like, rebooting, connect to usb, switch to red, then plug in psx controller. don't have any n64 controller plugged in or anything.
