Well, you could try this.
Within my research, the first thing I would recommend to do when you are using ePSXe v1.6.0 is to turn 'Enable Logs' on (on the ePSXe GUI, click on 'Run', 'Enable Logs').
The moment you start a session, you will have the dos window (log) appear in the background. Once you are done with your session, whether in the BIOS or playing a game, press Esc and close the actual log window, not the ePSXe UI.
From what I discovered, the log runs regardless, but the log window will not be
visible unless you enable it. So, instead of closing ePSXe through the UI, close the log window (being the emulator running) itself. The emu, otherwise, will still be running, thus the need to revert to task manager.
