Indeed the Japanese GC can be modified..but one must ask themselves... For the cost paid to import the GC..do you really want to void warrenty and take a chance of ruining the device? If you did screw up you would be forced to by another one anyway....
We admit modifying our old PSX...but we did so knowing that if we made a mistake..a replacement would cost us less then $100....
