Is there a 24-hour rule under the copyright law that allows a user to download a program and use it for 24 hours to determine if they want to continue using it - and then after the 24-hour period they have to delete it or buy it?
No. The 24-hour rule is an urban legend created and circulated to justify violations of copyright law on the Internet. Under copyright law, "[a]nyone who violates any of the exclusive rights of the copyright owner [reproduction, adaptation, distribution to the public, public performance, public display, rental for commercial advantage or importation] is an infringer of the copyright or the right of the author..." Section 501(a) of the Copyright Act. Infringement may occur by downloading software, uploading software, making software available for download, and transmitting software files. Whenever the distribution of a computer program occurs without the consent of the software publisher, it is a direct infringement of the copyright law. The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of a program, even for only 24 hours, is illegal. The amount of time is not an exempting factor.

But I'm sure the Software and Information Industry Association is wrong and you are right. We do research this stuff.

>As I said, I do physically own the game, therefore nothing 'illegal' was comitted.

So if you lose a CD you own, you are legaly entitled to go into a shop, take the CD off the shelf and take it home to copy? No. This is because it's not the CD you own.

>Lastly, if a mod/admin is in the wrong, does it matter what status they hold? Oh... so just because you're a mod/admin, the truth has to wait outside? Ignorance must be wonderful stuff, I'll have to try it someday! If this is the case then you can have it!

Did I say we are never wrong? No. What I said was it was a bad idea to badmouth admins. The way in which you worded that 'suggestion' indicates that you are insulting his intelligence. That is the same as flaming, and is against our rules.

>I just wanted to give a 'peaceful' 'two cents' worth of advice the Emulator had 1 thing missing. Yes it's possible the ISO had a bug, TCP/IP's internal error checking is not 100%. Yes it's possible Nero's error checking after a burn missed something, that's not 100% either. But to deny the truth of the matter is just childish and immature...

To deny the fact that numerous people, with 100% legit versions running from thier own CDs or ISOs they created themselves, have had this game working fine through this error you post is short sighted. You tell me te research copyright law when you yourself didn't even bother to research the number of people that have played Xenogears? The fact that the problems with Xenogears (the dream sequence) were quased in 1.6.0?
If you are going to make such an indignant post, make sure you research yuor information.
I'm aware the game might work 100% for other people. But as any programmer knows, something may not crash unless a certain trigger is performed. An individual might not trigger it to crash and play through it 100%. I however, snagged on a bug near the beginning of the game, that's all I said. That is not something that requires research, that is a fact! PERIOD!
