Ive never heard of a setting to turn SSE on or off, its just if your chip supports it or not.
to be blunt but maybe a little harsh, the Tbird would be too slow to run chankast, even if it did work youd probably have < 10fps and would really destroy the gaming experience, you should go out and buy at least an athlon XP, the ones below the 2000+ chip are pretty damn cheap these days, costing about £50GBP ($70USD or $150CAD)
