that computer is far from crappy, that athlon kicks pentium 4 ass.
you just need a better video card and more ram and you would be good for another 2 years.
if you think about upgrading (assuming you have an agp port), try and buy an nvidia videocard 5600 and above, because i've had customers complain and return video cards because of motherboards equiped with that integrated video card is not compatible with ATi. well specifically, emachine via motherboards does not like 9500 and above video cards. but i'm assuming it would apply to all chipsets (km266, and maybe the km400) as via had trouble implementing and having compatibility with ati's agp 8x cards.
