Hmm. Here I was going to yell at you to read the README but it seems that the relevant information isn't in there

Anyway, to hear any sound, you have to enable the DSP--either by editing the vj.cfg file or by selecting the Settings | Misc menu option and clicking the DSP button. I would also recommend that you use the old, non-pipelined version as well, at least until the pipelined DSP has been optimized well...
