I'm not sure your hardware has what's needed to run this but here's the way I do it.
- First, install the DirectX developer runtime. These are required to get the software renderer. You can get it at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
- Start Xeon. In the graphic options, check "Software Rendering" on. You might also check "Wireframe Mode" on too because software rendering is painfully slow and we can use any speed increase we can get.
- Load Halo's default.xbe
- From the menu, start a new game (Campaign, Player profile, Difficulty level) and wait for the files to decompress. When the intro start running, close the window.
- In the graphics options, you can now check off "Software Rendering" and "Wireframe mode".
- In Window's control panel, you should have a DirectX item now that you've installed the developer runtime. Open this and go to the Direct3D tab. Make sure "Use Debug Version of Direct3D" is selected. Your mileage may vary but on my system it won't run without this.
- Load Halo's default.xbe again... and enjoy!
- Don't forget to switch to the retail version of Direct3D (in the control panel) once you're done, because the debug versino is slower and will cripple all your other games.
Hope this helps...
