Actually this is the case in Sweden, but I'm quite sure it goes for other countrys aswell :P.

The problem is that new stuff appears on computers so fast that the law can't keep up. Another example of this is that in Sweden it's legal to download mp3's, but not sharing them though .
This will however change Jan 1st 2004 .

But asking what's legal in your part of the world on the internet is no good anyhow. The difference in laws are bigger than you think.

Actually the music-industry use this quite a lot. If you're a band signing a contract, make sure under which countrys law you sign under. You could sign an american contract for a german label in denmark. And when it comes down to copyright/breaking the contract *and so on..* it can make a HUGE difference. (Sorry not emu related, just a fun sidenote )
