Well, I doubt that the drive is your problem, toshiba always makes very good cd readers and it should have no problem reading a PSX disc, even if it is copy protected. I would reccomend that you check to see if your plug-ins are configured correctly, try a different plug-in, or try making a CD image of the game you are trying to play and run it from that.

Im using sub channel files... havent tried the other modes yet.

LiteON drives have some of the best writing quality available. I reccomend RAW DAO+96 for writing, and RAW+96 of reading. I don't know about in the PSX plugin, just do what ever that works.
