Indeed, there have been many games made with the freeware AGS (Adventure Game Studio)... but none match up to Tierra's masterpieces. They actually redraw and rerender their own art (instead of recycling pre-existing art), they remaster music and add their own original music, and they add speech.
Actually, Tierra's revamped King's Quest II is officially called King's Quest II+ because in addition to the superficial changes, the designers actually added new puzzles (and changed some existing ones), new plot, and new dialogue to improve what many people (including myself) thought was a somewhat incomplete game plotwise, and illogical game puzzle-wise.
