Ikaruga is one of the best shmups that has ever graced this planet for a long time

At least in my humble opinion. And yes, Rez is that game you're thinking about (minus the vibrator though).

And don't forget the KOF series (if you're into KOF, that is). Playmore is still porting the KOF series to the DC.
