The fact is, it probably isn't legal if the company has released an OST for their game. These compoanies are still making money off the soundtracks and since PSFs are very close to the originals, if the companies knew about it, they'd tramp on it I think.
SPCs (I think you asked about them too), are only ok only because they are so old. Most game companys quit marketing those soundtracks years ago
