And about the topic, no in pactice you cant use a cdrom laser to read the gdrom's pit, they are too small. But in theory it is possible to read them using a dvd drive's laser. BUT, you would have to mess around with the dvd drive's servo controller. But like i said this is just in theory.

I am quite aware of what you are saying here. Those rips contain downsampled music, dummy FMV blank file (nothing happens during FMVs)
However, I have seen ppl managing to RIP DVDs or GDs to multiple CDrs without removing usefull stuff.
The most incredible rip I have ever seen in my life is that of the GTA3 PS2 version. It was on one CDr, without ANY data missing.
