I really am enjoying the PSX remix. I am looking forward to the ending, since there are no FMVs (other than spells cast in battle) Also I want to play chapter 6. I have already submitted game saves to gamefaqs at the beginning of each of the first 5 chapters (except chapter 1, that would be dumb)
MRCN: the biggest difference is that the game engine from DW7/DQ7 is used. Also, this game is better than dq7 in the respect that there is a lot more sprite animation. (sometimes 3 animations for each enemy) plus the addition of many quirks in dq 5/6/7
Esturk17:
between previous knowledge, Red Scarlet's translation faqs, and a nes-world map, I have found the game quite easy to play. The only thing i have a problem with is spell names and towns when you cast return. I think i might ask byuu or spSpiff to translate them so i have a guide.
also, i talked to pete, and he says the graph over the intro is caused by filtering. I kept it with the filtering, as it isnt noticable other than the intro. And the dw7 fix in pete's gpus will prevent the software funky switching thing when dialog is on the screen. the drawback is that the dialog boxes have a black background instead of the translucent one. The SPU makes a big difference in this game. if you disable sound, you will get 60fps reliably, otherwise it will drop to 45 or so during some dialog. Finally, the battle transition is much like FF7, so there is a slow-down there...
