Do you mean FF9 needs subchannel support to work
at all, or does that mean FF9 works
without PPF file if you have subchannel support?
Anyway, my drive calls itself a E-IDE CD-ROM 36X/AKW, Firmware revision U22 in the device manager and 36X MTRP written on the front of the drive and it does work with FF9 (PAL), the relevant PPF file, and subchannel support (read from CDROM) checked.
