for Cube Media Player, it looks like it's trying to use a drive other than the one you want to use. try changing the settings in Edit > Preferences > CD & DVD Device...
not sure about PSound. did you run aspichk again? were all 4 drivers listed as installed? try running it in Compatibility Mode for Windows 98?
truthfully i've never gotten PSound to work on my XP box, only my Win98, and even then there were better programs i ended up using instead, that weren't so "involving", for lack of a better word. i'll try it again though. i still have it, so i'll see if i can get it going now...

tom, what version of Cube Media Player do you have? mine is Cube Media Player 2.05.0117
