yeah, sorry man, it's been awhile since i did mine, i forgot how bad it is.
okay, when you click the file to unpack, keep tabs on where it unpacks to (by default it's "C:\adaptec\aspi") and click Start > Run... and type cmd in the "Open:" field. a command prompt should pop up (black screen with white text on most systems). navigate to the folder where you unpacked the files to. if you're not sure how to do this, just type in:
cd C:\adaptec\aspi
and hit Enter. then, for 32-bit standard WinXP, type:
install.bat xp32
with a space between "install.bat" and "xp32". for 64-bit Windows XP:
install.bat xp64
afterwards, you can run aspichk.exe in the extracted folder to see if ASPI installed ok. it should say "ASPI is properly installed and fully operational" in grey at the bottom.
