Another series I really liked was Elaine Cunninghams, Starlight and Shadows... Definetly worth reading!
Pretty funny, I got interested in Forgotten Realms after playing the original Neverwinter Nights! After that I got intrigued and got myself BG and BGII...
And yes, when I checked the library two weeks ago the Pirate King was still in "acquisition"... If there was one I would get it even if it was written in english but they don't have it so I have to wait for the translation. And I'm not really into buying books as I rarely feel like reading them again, so it feels like wasting money which is tight nowdays!

I started reading them because I think I needed a DnD fix after having played Baldur's Gate 2. I was recommended Elaine Cunningham by someone from my old NWN1 RP server as well. I recently started the Cleric's Quintet by the way, but I haven't really had the time for it. I started playing Icewind Dale too, but didn't even make it out of the first town yet
As for the books: English ftw, I have an aversion to any translation into my local language.
Edit: And I'm surprised no one has started a quote fest yet, saying that they're reading the post above
