well @ES is a frontend YES and NO.. Why? well itīs more like the Frontend concept 2.0. other than frontends @ES is not designed to just configure a simple emu, send commands and launch the emulator. @ES works in a hole different way.. it does configure the emu when required(mostly on the fly) grab the emu and renders the data in @ES main screen.
it also allows you to have a collection of games in different sections and switch between emulators easily. it adds also the ability to play music(for games such as RE series where the enviroment is too quite) and also play video of almost every single format out there(as long as you have the codecs).
after you use @ES you will see why isnīt a frontend at all as it manages emulators that doesnīt even have commands such as Naomi,Dolphin and many others
