I was introduced to Final Fantasy by playing FF VIII, but it took me a while to get into; but I completed it anyway (over a period of on-and-off playing for a few weeks) and although I didn't entirely like VIII, I eventually bought FF VII which I thought was a much better game - and after realizing that each game in the series was set in a different world, and hence a different experience - I bought more and more over the years.
Let's see...
Completed I and II on GBA, but it took me a while to get hooked to II.
Just recently bought III for DS, not sure of my opinion on that yet...
IV and V were similar, but both were good games (though V is slightly better).
VI not played, but I've heard good things, so I'll get round to it.
VII and IX are my favourites (mostly IX) for different reasons.
I'm currently addicted to X, and am starting to play X-2 (though I'll probably be put off by the girly moments I've seen thus far).
I'm not one for online RPGs, so I dont own XI, and probably never will.
As for my view on XII...

But, like, I seriously can't wait for XIII and VersusXIII. I plan to own a PS3 just for these games
