Hello. I've been searching through these forums for the last couple of days, reading the tips and discussions about ripping FMVs from PS2 games (in particular FF X and XII). I was able to successfully rip all 40 videos from the US NTSC version of FF XII using the ffxii2movus tool provided in this post:
ffxii2mov US Version
I've written a script to convert the video to h264, mux the audio track back in, adjust the aspect ratio, etc. Everything looks great, but I'm having some issues getting the last three videos working right. I haven't been able to find anything that specifically addresses them elsewhere in the forum, so I was hoping some familiar with this process could answer these questions here.
1. Video 38 is the opening demo that plays/loops after the disc is inserted. It begins with a variation of the old Prelude song, which plays until the airship begins to rise out of the hanger (about 1:35 in). At this point, the music is
supposed to switch to the Prologue and play through the rest of the video, but instead I just get silence for the remaining minute of video. What's the deal? Is there any way to get the full audio for this track?
2. Video 40 is the US-only video that required the separate tool to extract. The video is fine, but the wav file that was created is an empty 0 byte file. Is this normal, or should this track also have audio?
3. This one isn't a problem, but a curiosity - where in the game did video 39 come from? This is the one that slowly shows a bunch of hand drawn sketches and lasts for about 8 minutes or so. I don't remember ever seeing that before.
Thanks! And thanks for compiling such a wonderful source of information on this topic. :-)
