12 was not one of the "weaker" FF titles. Its sales were just as good if not better then X.
Just because you don't notice it doesn't mean its not there.
The character's stats are all different growth.
FF games have been known for over the top specials since VII.
Don't tell me you didn't notice Squalls special where he puts his sword in the air and it turns into this mofo huge sword that reaches past the clouds(not to mention lion heart)
