Like a biased decision, not a plain lucid one.
I guess it is something more complex. I think that society plays a great role in the decision of someone to commit suicide. I live in a city that hold the records for suicide in the country, and this theme is very strong among the young. Some of them are so imbecile to even think it is something "nice". Like an "act of courage". I'm studing film making at the college, and almost half of the short movies made there deal with the theme of suicide. But not in an intelligent way. "Oh, look how cool I am, making a movie about suicide!"

At the same time, the people of this city are very opressive, always agressive towards strangers. They think they're superior because their skin is whiter, that their eyes are lighter and have some unpronounciable surname, so some people can't bear this idiocy and die.

Opression from society, weak family bonds, not having trusting friends, drug abuse and tendency for developing mental illness: these are the causes of suicide. But it is always a stupid way of dying, even if the person can't control him/herself.

If someone is really interested in this matter, i recommend reading Durkheim's studies.
