Great list, by the way.
Say, does anyone here happen to know of a way to get

I have used the Music Player Daemon and two of its clients (GMPC and Sonata) and I was very impressed with the fact that it was the only native Linux application that
does offer
true gapless playback right from the get-go. However, the clients really don't offer as many features as most other music players. This is understandable as MPD wasn't really intended to be used in this manner.
