Note : you may switch scanlines on and set to 200, that fixes some bad filtred_edges (kindda illusion).

Yeah, you do indeed need a resolution of 640 x 480. It's a key part alright, but not enough alone. It's still double the original, which is why the filters/smoothing are needed.

Here's a screenshot of my settings as I posted them.

Here's what I get when I simply use 2xSal in my configuration instead of the stretched setting. Notice around the dialogue boxes, so it is using the stretched setting that fixes it. The real thing I'm pointing out is the Black lines in the backdrop though. 2xSal causes that on 2-D, and if I remember reading right long ago (somewhere here), it can't be fixed, and either way (even if it can), just getting 2xSal to work isn't enough. As I said, it's a combination of low resolution and filters/smoothing.

Lastly, here's 2xSal on the Direct3D plug-in with Full Software Drawing (which is what I assume you meant?). I still get the Black lines (and text box messing up), though not as bad, and the 2-D background does not look as smooth or lacking of pixelation/stretching as the first one did.
