Perhaps you're not doing that in the right way:
1- To Save : Hit F1
2- To choose/Change a savestate : hit F2,,,and pay attention here, during game play, you have to be very awaken to not to save on the same sstate,,,and thats what causes your lost
!
3- Load state : hit F3
