make sure you do your own research, the salesmen usually don't know much about the TVs they sell!
and they also try and sell you stuff you might not want/need.
i remember asking a bestbuy's employee about whether Plasmas that said 1080p really had 1920x1080 resolution, and he didn't even know what i was talking about
