Normally I wouldn't hijack someone's thread with my console preference but seeing as how you said all that I will refute it.
I also owned both the 360 and PS3. I still have my PS3. My 360 is sold. Yes, the 360 has a large amount of games. They're all the same and 99% of them suck a lot. Most of them are cash grabs by developers who obviously don't care about product quality or content. There's only so many mindless shooters I can stomach. Besides, I have a PC for shooters. That said, the 360 is frigging LOUD, the product quality is atrocious (lol RROD), there's no standard HD medium drive, the media capabilities are lackluster, it's not an open platform like the PS3, you have to pay for the online play, there's next to nothing in the way of jpn content, the games don't cache to HD, the HD is proprietary and expensive, they only just now made HDMI standard and that was only in retaliation to PS3.
My PS3, on the other hand, while not having (yet) as large a library as the 360 already has more quality games that I liked much more. It's near-silent, quiter than my Wii. Product quality is way better. BluRay is win. While it won't play x264 mkvs (to be expected) it will play HD DivX's, Xvid's and Mp4s. I don't need special software to stream media to it from my PC. My PS3 becomes a media gateway to my PC for my PSP....so I can access all the music and movies on my computer from my PSP if I have a WiFi connection. PSN is free. I can install linux on my PS3 without having to hack it. There are way more JPN games for PS3. Games installing to HD is WIN. Keyboard and mouse support for FPSs is win.
Choice was obvious for me.
