This may well have to do with your controller if it's a force feedback one, Mako Eyes. Each button on such a controller behaves like an axis rather than a switch, and this seems to confuse the emulator. AFAIK with a standard, non-force feedback controller, the situation will be as I described: most games will be fine, but in affected games, the controller may act with abnormal sensitivity in menus, but not in normal play.

That's why I asked donutbandit what controller he was using. If you try your keyboard as a controller (or use a non-force feedback one), you should find either that everything's fine, or that the situation is as I described - excessive sensitivity in menus, but not otherwise.
