DRM and Starforce hinders piracy...
|
I find that somewhat hard to believe.
Elaborate.
Please keep in mind that DRM has had a shaky track record, and Starforce....well warez groups such as Reloaded, Vitality, Immersion and others,
on numerous occasions reverse-engineered this so-called "protection". Plus, SF
PR is absolutely terrible, and any user faith in it has deteriorated. Then we have the Securom/Bioshock scenario.

I don't support DRM, but what do they do concerning DRM that **** this bad? =/

Lets start from the top
1) Enforcing Internet access for single player games. This is flawed, since a) the games are
single player and thus logically, don't require Internet access. b) creates havoc if you don't have a Internet connection for some reason.
2) Forced updates. Thus, removing any user control, and letting Valve perform operations on your games on a whim. With you having zero control over how things are done.
3) Bloat. Steam is bloated. I don't want any bloated **** running on my PC, thank you very much.
4) Reliance on DRM servers. Remember the first time HL2 was released? Do we want a repeat of that happening?
