yeah now that kickass videocards are avaibable for $300 dollars instead of $700, you can really get a good kickass computer. Especially if your only counting the cost of the tower.

Put an extra $100 into a motherboard, so look in the $200+ price range get one that can overclock well. Put get some premium ddr2 ram that is rated for 1066 or higher. Get an intel penryn cpu... perferably the 8400 as the quad cores are hard to comeby and offer no improvements in pcsx2.
Get a decent size case with good airflow. Perhaps the Antec 182 or 182se.

Get a good aftermarket heatsink and cpu fan(s) and system or water cooling if you wanna deal with the complications.

Get at least the 8800GT, but look at the 8800GTS and 9800GTX as well. SLI is nice, but its overrated.

Don't underspend on a good psu.
