There are a great many more drives than that that will read subcode, Squall-Leonhart - and you're ignoring the fact that this only affects copy protected games, which ePSXe will not read directly - you have to record the subcode separately to play the protected CD. With pSX, OTOH, if you have a drive that reads subcode successfully, you don't have to mess about recording a subcode track, and then setting the plugin to use it every time you want to play a protected game, you just stick the CD in and play.

err, the Copyprotection is stored in the subchannel, which epsxe has support for, using various plugins, psx might use an internal cdread method, but that doesn't make epsxe's any less worthwhile. as for reading subcode tracks, both ATAPI SPEC2 and raw modes support the reading of subchannel tracks.

Tthe Built in CDR plugin is superior in support to other plugins, but the fact it doesn't support precaching is a big problem for most users, since the CDR will spin down when not required, this results in the game freezing until the CD spins back up and reads the next segment of data.

Hello,
Surely i will rewrite the CDR plugin in 1.8.0.

since calb has openly admitted epsxe development is back on.
