From a marketing POV this is an important card. They've got the crown again, which helps building the image that therefore all the other nVidia cards must be better than ATi in general as well. It's simplistic reasoning that works for most who don't know much about it, and don't care. You pay a big premium that in my opinion just isn't worth it, but well, there is a market for it. I'd rather wait for a completely new lineup and aim for a card that gives most performance/€.
