XA sound issues, dear God!
Hey everyone, it would appear that I'm new here, but in fact, I've been here for years...and I've never registered and posted/replied. So to many of you, thank you for your extensive help.
Anyway..I've recently switched to pSX from ePSXe tonight after a long time working dilligently with the plug-in format. Initially, it was amazing, considering the faithful rendering of PSX graphics, but then I noticed consistent skipping during XA sound specifically. All other sounds (in-game, BIOS boot-up) are flawless. I've made incremental adjustments to the XA latency without any results, as well as updated my drivers. Turned Reverb, sync, and interpolation off with little outcome, as if I expected any. I have tested Metal Gear Solid in ALL formats including my original copy. I have tried all of the various formats and I have tried multiple .CCD/.IMG/.SUB games, which the majority of my games are backed up in. So that certainly isn't the issue. I've also cancelled numerous processes as well, though like I said, my specs are entirely acceptable for PSX emulation.
Help would be great, because I'm tired of ePSXe, and I can't stand the lack of fluid XA audio, given the games that I tend to play.
Problem solved. MsMpEng.exe was a running process which I haven't entirely disabled. Sound issues alleviated when process tree is terminated. The douchebag.
