hum... generally the slowdown will be minimum, i have tested it on my celeron 1.6ghz with a geforce 2mx 64mb, and with that card the best i got is 24bpp in the emulator, plus 32bit textures, plus no filter (no conversion is needed) =)... but if you are using a scale2x or hq2x you will notice a little slowdown, another thing i have seen, is that even when you have a little slowdown 5,10% some games (auto mode) are running strictly with all cpu speed, so since no$gba frameskip method only knows 100%, 50% and 10% frame skips, if a rom is running at 50% frameskip (exactly) and with the 5% slowdown it need a little more frame skip then emulator will goes directly to 10% frame skip, ^^"" and this can lead to a "visual slowdown", so and finally, if your game is running at something like 90%, with 10% frame skips, you can set the frame skip to 6-9 in the nds2xgl so in this case if you have a good configurated nds2xgl, you can even gain that 10% that is missing... (this is because no$gba uses GDI to render (no directx) and GDI (windows default) is a somewhat slower, plus generally no$gba used to update 60 times/second (so full frames in the GDI render update even if the game is at 10% frame skip). im using OpenGL (isnt fast as directx, but with a good card it becomes awesome faster) and using frameskip in nds2xgl you can make it update ONLY the frames that it actually rendered, for those reasons that nds2xgl CAN speed-up the emulator a bit) i guess that you have understood all this text, and learned a little more, about it

i guess that using some frame skip (to keep 20 fps) will make the hq2x usable for most of the games, and for those who can use 16bit textures without that horrible slowdown, it will be the faster option (plus 15bpp in the emulator), and yeah i will add the 2x and 3x?? option soon, but let me see 2x will need 1024x768 fullscreen or more windowed, and 3x will need something like 1600x1200 o.o and since, so i guess that 3x will be all you will got for now... 1.5x , 2x , 2.5x and 3x
