chickenchaser, it helps if you give relevant information when reporting game problems. Particularly important is the game version: if you give the game ID, you not only tell us the region, but the actual game version - there can be more than one even in specific regions, and they often have different issues.
The PAL and NTSC-J versions of Final Fantasy IX are copy protected, and there are reports (unconfirmed) that the NTSC-US version is, too - this can affect ripping them successfully. As Gamesoul Master says, it's best to use the .ccd/.img/.sub or .mdf/.mds formats for images of protected games, as these formats include subcode that pSX needs to defeat the copy protection.
