Okay... ahem... if you want to get that hair, my advice is... keep it freaking simple.
You don't need 3 different shades for your hair shadow... and then 10 different highlights for your hair. Your Tear pic obviously had only two shades for shadow... and one highlight, which is white. The rest of the thing was simply shaded, which made it extremely nice.
Just a very overused line here... but I think it'd be good if you work on the proportions of your line drawings as well.
