Then the lightest part would be their faces... and then their bodies will be shaded out slowly... because the light source is weaker outside than inside. And the difference will be even more drastic if the light source is friggin' far away... and if it's dim. Here's a real life demonstration:



The two sides are not completely darkened because there are still light in there. But if the sun was directly in between them, the two sides would be darkened even more. See what I mean? Their faces are not completely darkened because they are not that close to each other.

Try to take advantage of the filter function if you are using Photoshop CS2 or CS3 instead of the blur tool.

That was using an NDS. Solely. No photoshoping whatsoever. I'd use Photoshop only if I get a tablet... which is next week.

Also, try not to use brush tool to color or shade the picture because you get blank spots at multiple places. (only use brush to do shadow if you are stacking the color)

That's the only thing available on the DS. That and pressure sensitive... but it's messed up because the DS is not that precise.

For the eyes, if you look at a contact lens from the side, you see an oval shape; also, you cannot see the eye white on the other side if you are looking at the face from the side (unless the person is looking at you) The eyes will also look better if you add some eye lashes esp. if you look at it from the side.

Umm... that's only if you are trying to draw a realistic picture. And trust me. You can barely see the eyelashes of a person in that lighting condition... PLUS the distance of viewing.

The nose bridge of the girl seems kind of long. Try to draw the skull first, so that you can get the spots at a better place. It also seems to me that the girl has no jaw ><.

She's looking up at the guy. And believe me or not, some Asian girls have very retractive jaws, and that's what makes them beautiful in Asia for some reason. XD

For the hair outline, use a straight line down and have some parts stand on top of another so that it wouldn't seem like a piece of hair.

I draw in anime style. Not in realistic style... and it's only in realistic style when I draw people's hair like that. Most anime artists don't even bother with drawing a bunch of hair. For example: Naruto has no hair. Just a spiky piece of something that is golden... like a hedgehog. XD

One more thing about the outline is that you can use color on the outline so that it wouldn't seem so hard on the edges.

You can barely get that kind of line on the DS... talk about changing its color. Having spent several hours wrestling with my DS's weird pressure sensitive control, I think I'll pass on the shading and the color changing at some spots. Sure I can change it, but there is little point, as... again... this is anime style. XP

The water seems fine, but you should blend in the colors of the sky.

There is no way to blend on the NDS using Colors!. That's the closest you can get it... without messing it up with the pressure sensitive thing. XP
