Emulators aren't illegal either, but u can do illegal stuff there. Some games are blocking ips used by tools like taht. So yeah, i think its a grey area. And still its a pretty dumb alternative.
I've been playing online for free for ages, with dedicated servers, and now we have to pay for a p2p service? Ain't gonna happen.
