At a core clock of 743(same as x2900xt 512 meg), it's not going to be close to a 8800gtx let alone an Ultra. A x2900xt clocked at 825 mhz ony comes close to an 8800gtx, not an 8800Ultra.

In many ways, the G80 release was similar to the release of the 9700. Whether it was as great a release is a matter of opinion.
