You don't have to wait for 3.50 OE-A, I'd advise you to install 3.30 OE-A (FF7 has problems on 3.40 OE-A if you'd like to play it), you may always upgrade to 3.50 OE-A later, however I don't expect it pretty soon as Dark Alex is currently learning for his exams at school. I know that your internet connection's a crap, but why don't you grab some pendrive and visit an internet cafe instead? I do so with PS3 fw updates (they are 100+ MB and it takes about 8h to download :/).
And yes, I also confirm that PSP games are region free (I had Wipeout Pure and MG Ac!d from US, they ran flawlessly), but UMD movies are locked (not on custom firmware, though
). Still, I fail to see the sense of buying movies on UMD... PSP Video 9 converter all the way!
I still haven't decided the fate of my PSP, but got rid of the games already...
