Scratched Disk
My used PSX game from eBay arrived today.
The disk looks bad. When I try to make an image with Alcohol 52%, I get about 125 disk read errors / blocks out of 200,000 plus blocks. The auction stated it was "used, but in working condition." Using windows explorer, I can’t copy the contents of the disk without getting fatal read errors.
How much would/could that effect gameplay? The game does start without errors.
I have been in contact with the seller. The seller stated the scratches do not effect gameplay because he “played it recently and I had no problems.”
It gets worse.
The game is Final Fantasy Tactics. Even if the seller played it recently, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a show stopper waiting in a bad block that the seller didn’t encounter. As soon as the seller received payment, the seller emailed me stating the “disks definitely shows some wear and tear from playing” and “should you experience ANY problems with the disc, please contact me right away.” The “disks definitely shows some wear and tear from playing” was not stated in the auction itself.
Should I try to get a refund? The seller has 100% positive feedback. I doubt any reputable game store would allow a trade-in with the way the disk looks.
Thank you for your time.
