what pcsx2 needs is a built-in benchmark that executes a small homebrew rom (some r5900, vu and gs-heavy code all at once, it'd only need be 2 or 3 kbytes worth, and preferably use no bios calls). it runs for 5 seconds, and gives you a number in big letters with your score. or perhaps separate cpu and gfx scores. if below a threshold, it prints a message saying "YOUR PC/CPU/VGA IS TOO SLOW FOR PCSX2, YOU NEED AN UPGRADE".

then people could look up the scores that games require to reach a certain fps level. joe's p4 + gma could get a score of 27/12, but ffx is in the official list as requiring 66/50. or something.

but given the number of people who post on this forum without seemingly reading or knowing anything whatsoever about pcsx2, i doubt even something like that would prevent people posting the same sys-reqs questions 28 times a day.
