I think he's simply announced it sooner than he has started it. He's probably just been revising over the code for the other emulators.
I dunno, but when was the last time a fake emu author thanked another emu team for source code? If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but it doesn't sound like that kind of guy.
He said he didn't care what we thought, but he didn't say his meu was going to run at 60fps and we'd miss out or anything like that
