The problem is probably trying to use a patched game with the vba-over. They may be interfering with each other. Like I said, you should probably remove or not use the vba-over if you plan to use a patched game. That's what I did and it worked for me. The reason why the rtc setting is enabled in the vba-over is so that the game will use the system time in your computer so the game can keep track of night and day like it would in the real game. It does not fix the solar problem at all. I should have made that clear in the vba-over thread.

Turn off the rtc setting and delete the .sav files and when you first set up the game the time will show 00:00 AM as the time. Enable the rtc setting and it will show the current system time that is on your computer. Do you see the reason why it's in the vba-over now? I agree that the black screen is probably because of the wrong patch.

EDIT: I tried your patch and still got the solar sensor error .
