Hey guys, got a problem here.
I got myself some new RAM,
KHX3200A/1G (kingston 1GB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL2 2-3-2-6-1T)
Pretty good stuff seeing how I now can run FEAR maxed out at great fps and Oblivion doesn't stutter anymore, however, the games keep crashing to desktop and sometimes they will cause a complete system reboot. I never had these problem with my old ram. Also, my motherboard allows me to run this ram to run at given timings, except at 2T, does this matter in terms of compatibility? I am tempted to assume running at 2T wouldn't matter as it is a slower timing, but I might be wrong, someone please help me out with this.
Btw, the symptons highly resemble the problems I used to have when we just bought the family computer, where everything worked fine except with games (more ram intense), we had the ram replaced and it worked fine. The only difference with this case is that here Memtest86 didn't show any error after 5 and a half hours of testing. I think I should still send it back as DOA though.
Also, I put the old 512 DDR400 in the family computer, but now it keeps on crashing or it doesn't boot at all, yet it ran perfectly fine on my own pc. WTH is going on here? I checked the jumper settings, even let the ram run at 333mHz instead of 400 because with 400 it started to beep like guinnea pig. At 333 it did run, for an evening, this morning it's beeping as well and the monitor stays in standby mode. Does anyone have any explanation for this?
